MoonWalk to support Walk the Walk

Duke UK Community Service and the Duke UK Women's Forum are collaborating on an upcoming event in May 2023, the 25th Anniversary MoonWalk to support Walk the Walk, the UK's largest grant making breast cancer charity in the UK. Come take on this amazing, fun challenge with a team of fellow Dukies, walking through the streets of London, raising awareness, investing in prevention, and supporting those living with breast and other cancers. You can choose to walk a half marathon plus (15.1 miles) or a full marathon (26.2 miles).

This is not just an event for women! Men are welcome, and children over the age of 13 can participate. Entry costs £54.50, but with that you get a bra to decorate, a bra t-shirt, a detailed training plan, a medal, and a reflective cap. Participants are asked to fundraise a minimum of £100 to support breast cancer research.

Please see below for the date, location, points of contact to join the team, and link for additional information. Even if you can't commit now but might be interested, please reach out!

Saturday, 20 May into Sunday, 21 May 2023

Start and Finish in Clapham Common, London (course route TBD but the half marathon and marathon routes will walk together for as long as possible)

To join the team or ask questions, please contact Katherine Hutton ‘05, M.B.A ‘11 at, Liz Clarke ‘07 at, and Susan Simpson '81 at no later than 3 February 2023.

Next Steps
The official MoonWalk training program starts the weekend of 19/20 February 2023. We will host a virtual kick-off for Team Duke UK/Europe in early February to coordinate virtual get togethers for encouragement during the training and some in person walking in the greater London area. A great chance to meet new Dukies and explore new areas!
