Volunteers Needed- NC Bar Foundation’s 16th Annual 4ALL Statewide Service Day

Volunteers Needed- NC Bar Foundation’s 16th Annual 4ALL Statewide Service Day

Friday, March 3 1:00-5:00 PM.

The 4ALL event is one of the North Carolina bar’s largest and most popular pro bono events. The format is simple yet effective. Paralegals and law students screen callers and identify the legal issue/practice area. Callers are then routed to appropriate attorneys to provide legal answers, info and resources (typically about 5 minutes per caller). Attorneys only receive calls from their self-selected practice area(s): Bankruptcy; Business Law; Civil Law (General); Construction; Consumer Protection; Contracts; Criminal Law; Domestic Violence; Elder Law; Employment Law ; Estate Planning; Expungement; Family Law ; Foreclosure; Health Law; Housing ; Immigration; Insurance Law; Medical Malpractice; Probate; Public Benefits; Social Security; Real Estate / Property; Tax; Traffic Law; Trademark / Patent / Copyright; Veteran's Benefits. All info is free and anonymous. For our students, it will be an exciting opportunity to develop issue spotting skills and work shoulder-to-shoulder with you.

The Office of Public Interest & Pro Bono is hosting a space for students, faculty, staff and local alumni to volunteer. There are two shifts for volunteers- 1:00-3:00PM and 3:00-5:00PM. Students volunteers will sign up to serve as call screeners, while NC-licensed alumni, faculty and staff will sign up for a shift(s) as a volunteer attorney. All volunteers are asked to bring their laptops and headsets/headphones.

This is an NCBF event so all volunteers are covered under their malpractice insurance. Duke Law is providing the work space, snacks, and camaraderie! We’ll also provide you with a parking pass.

How to Volunteer (two steps):

Register with Duke Law – Sign-up for one (or both) shifts: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094daaaa23a2fece9-duke#/

Register with the NCBA/NCBF – Sign-up for the 4ALL event here: https://ncbarfoundation.org/our-programs/4all-statewide-service-day/

Attorneys should select the first option (Virtual/Remote Attorney Volunteer). Paralegals select the second option (Virtual/Remote Call Screener Volunteer). If this is your first time accessing the NCBA site, you will need to create an account before you can register. Please register for the same shifts as in Step 1. The NCBF will confirm your registration and provide you with training materials including instructions on how to access and operate the Telzio phone system.
