Lending a Better Hand

If a global pandemic showed us anything, it’s that humans both crave connection with meaningful interaction, and that we need each other to thrive. Volunteering can create a sense of belonging, and yet volunteering must be more than just good intentions. Weigh what it means to be an ethical volunteer, and consider volunteerism’s impact on the world, your community and you.

Energy Transformation

The summer of 2023—the hottest on Earth since 1880—warns of a coming future. As temperatures continue to rise to critically damaging levels across the world, an environmental domino effect is emerging: diminishing glaciers that impact freshwater supply, severe droughts that make it impossible to grow food, and increased energy usage that releases harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Can anything be done to rewrite this course? A single entity cannot solve climate change alone. Research and industry leaders must come together to innovate solutions and address this crisis in novel ways. Inspired by Duke’s Climate Commitment, join fellow alumni as we learn about transforming our energy and how Duke is leading the way in this latest track from the Forever Learning Institute.
