Sea for yourself

Marine Lab Weekend

Join fellow alumni, family and friends for a unique weekend on Pivers Island, NC with the Duke University Marine Laboratory. Our Marine Lab Weekend gives participants an up-close look at the secrets of the ocean in study with Duke faculty.

Each year participants engage in a new topic with the most up to date research. Past Marine Lab Weekends explored sounds of the sea, marine megafauna, and the ocean floor. Led by some of Duke’s top faculty, it will be an unforgettable and educational Marine Lab experience. Make your reservation today, as this is one of the Alumni Association’s most popular Forever Learning programs.

What to Expect

During the weekend, you will spend the day in a combination of fascinating lectures, field trips and hands-on work collecting samples and exploring results. You will experience the same state-of-art equipment used in the field by world-acclaimed scientists. Saturday evening allows participants free time to relax and explore the charming, seaside community of Beaufort, NC.
