Join us in a virtual book club to discuss the book selected for the Duke class of 2024's common summer reading experience, Know My Name: A Memoir by Chanel Miller. This is the story, told in her own voice, of a young woman who was sexually assaulted on Stanford's campus by an athlete and student, Brock Turner. After his sentencing of six months in county jail, Miller stunned millions with a victim-impact letter published on BuzzFeed under the name of Emily Doe, where it went viral. In writing her story, she is reclaiming her identify to tell of the trauma, transcendence and the power of words.

Let's read along with the newest crop of Dukies and discuss her story as well as its impact on us, our community, and our Duke students. We are limiting the discussion to 20 participants. If there is additional demand, we will create another session during the same week to expand the conversation.
