Join a group of fellow Duke alumni as we work with other volunteers at the Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup, sponsored by the Charles River Watershed Association. Each year, over 3,000 volunteers attend the event to pick up litter, remove invasive species, and assist with park maintenance all along the Charles River and its connected waterways. This is part of a national effort as part of American Rivers's National River Cleanup. The initiative has removed over 25 million pounds of trash from America's waterways to date! Read the Charles River Watershed Association Mission Statement.
Our group has been assigned to Olmsted Park along the Emerald Necklace—home to a key waterway connected to the Charles River. We will spend three hours in the morning helping to maintain the park and keep the waterways clean. Olmsted Park is easily accessible by car or by T (Heath Street or Back of the Hill stations on the Green-E Line).
We hope to see you there!
