Join other Duke alumni families for a rewarding morning of service with the New Jersey Tree Foundation's Urban Airshed Reforestation Program (UARP) in Camden. After brief instruction, we will assist in the planting of 20 street trees. Come be an active contributor with the residents of Camden toward a positive change in their community.
The UARP is a community-based tree planting program that started in Camden in 2002. The program is designed to improve air quality, manage storm water and provide shade. The UARP has planted 6,978 trees along city streets and engaged approximately 14,272 volunteers from all walks of life in beautifying South Jersey's cities.
Robert Bartosz MHA'86, a member of the board of directors of the Foundation, will give brief remarks and a short tour of the area where Duke alumni planted trees in 2013, to show the growth and impact on that section of the neighborhood.
The tree planting will take place rain or shine. Wear sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather and planting. Tools, gloves and water will be provided by the NJ Tree Foundation staff. Children 4+ are welcome with supervision. Make sure you register early for this project as space is limited!
