Showing up is just one part of volunteering; being willing to learn about a community and invest in it is quite another. In this session, experts will emphasize the importance of learning the history of a community, questioning our own perceptions and biases, and recognizing power imbalances can contribute to volunteering where everyone feels they belong.

Speakers:

  • Alec Greenwald, Associate Director, Strategy and Operation, Trinity College of Arts & Sciences
  • Nicole Shramm-Sapyta, Associate Professor of the Practice, Duke Institute of Brain Sciences
  • Jesse S. Summers, Adjunct Associate Professor of Philosophy
