Grassroots Ecology's mission is to engage and educate the public to restore local ecosystems. Their team engages 12,000 people annually in environmental restoration, community science, and educational programs offered at outdoor spaces throughout Silicon Valley, from the foothills to the bay.

At their restoration community workdays, the aim is to restore natural functions to the ecosystem. They do this by keeping invasive plants populations in check, growing locally native plants at their nursery, supporting stream restoration, and planting a diversity of species for wildlife.
