Duke Philadelphia and DBA Philadelphia presents Insights and Impact of Mass Incarceration, a panel discussion focusing on certain laws that have disproportionately impacted black and brown communities, in Philadelphia and throughout the country. Our panelists will delve into how the U.S.'s historical foundation drives distrust between police and the communities where they serve. They will discuss the mass incarceration challenges we have now and our failure to reimagine how to rehabilitate instead of simply punishing those convicted of a crime.

Guest panelists across various pillars of the legal system will help our alumni better understand the biggest challenges for America to evolve into a more equitable and just society.

In preparation for this event, our panelists suggest you watch the Netflix film "Concrete Cowboy." This film, based in a Philadelphia neighborhood, will humanize some of the issues that will be discussed.
