The KIPP College Access Forum panelists will discuss the opportunities and challenges underlying college access for DC students. College enrollment and completion continue to be challenging for low income students nationally, and students in DC are no exception. KIPP DC’s Ambassador Board together with Duke Black Alumni will lead a discussion surrounding the challenges of getting to and through college for the city’s most challenged students.

Panelists:

  • Kim R. Ford, the President & CEO of Martha’s Table
  • Kimberly Hanauer, A.B. ’02, A.M.'14 Director of College and Career Readiness for DC Public Schools, and
  • Tevera Stith, Director of KIPP DC’s KIPP through College Program.

Each of these esteemed panelists has extensive experience working with students in DC to prepare for college and careers.

The event will also feature the perspectives of KIPP students currently in college. Event participants will leave with a clear understanding of challenges facing disadvantaged students in DC as they navigate the career/college pipeline, and ways the larger community may help.

Duke is a college partner with the national KIPP organization. Join us to learn about the ways Duke is committed to helping KIPP students succeed.
