What makes a leader transcendent? What traits do superstars possess that the average person only dreams about? What separates the all-time greats from everyone else?
Over the course of a 35-year basketball odyssey, Shane Battier A.B. '01 has been blessed to play for numerous Hall of Fame coaches and play with a handful of the greatest players and teams basketball has produced. From his front-row seat to some of the greatest legends in sports, he’s learned what it takes to achieve peak performance, sustained success, and the importance of giving back.
In conversation with good friend and former Duke classmate, Nitin Motwani A.B. '01, Battier will provide key insights into what made names like Mike Kryzyewski, Hubie Brown, and Eric Spoelstra first-ballot Hall of Fame coaches. He will explore what made legendary front office executives like Jerry West and Pat Riley one-of-a-kind. He will also explain the traits that separate surefire Hall of Fame players – like LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol, and Yao Ming – from the rest of the NBA.
These surprisingly simple and accessible traits will illuminate a path of improvement – no matter your playing field. With insight and enthusiasm, Battier provides audiences with championship-proven strategies for cultivating greatness – from activating purpose through mission-driven leadership to tapping into your emotional intelligence, and harnessing resilience.
