A Duke Alums Engage Project



Please come join me and your fellow Duke alumni and help preserve the beauty of the White Point Nature Preserve. This is going to be a really fun, family friendly event and your efforts will help restore this habitat for wildlife as well as keep our beautiful city looking its best.

We'll be planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails and more. There will also be lunch, a raffle and giveaways for the event!

The mission of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC) is to "preserve land and restore habitat for the education and enjoyment of all." The Conservancy preserves undeveloped land as open space for historical, educational, ecological, recreational and scenic purposes. Since its founding in 1988, the Conservancy has successfully preserved 1,600 acres of open space on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The Conservancy's vision is the creation and management of large blocks of natural open space where visitors may enjoy peaceful solitude, where children and adults can learn about the natural environment, and where native plants and animals can thrive.

We will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Duke gear preferred but not required. Don't forget sunscreen and water in a reusable water bottle. Minimum age with an adult is 5.

Event Cancellation by Sponsor

The Duke Alumni Association (DAA) reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable.If DAA cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.

Registration Cancellation by Participant

Unless specifically stated on registration materials, the deadline to receive a refund for your registration is 5 business days before the event. Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event. Cancellations will be accepted via phone, fax or e-mail, and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. All refund requests must be made by the attendee or credit card holder. Refund requests must include the name of the attendee and/or transaction number. Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment. These above policies apply to all DAA Events unless otherwise noted in the corresponding event materials. Please read all individual event information thoroughly.
