Please Join Us for a Day of Wine, Food, and Friends!
Join the Duke DC Community for private wine tastings at two award-winning and women-owned Middleburg vineyards. You will spend a beautiful Sunday in September in the Bull Run Mountains sipping wine, learning about the art and science of winemaking, enjoying a lovely lunch, and making new Blue Devil friends. This event is sponsored by the Duke DC Women’s Forum and sells out quickly, so register early!
- The day begins with meeting at 10:30AM at the West Falls Church Metro Station, 7040 Haycock Rd, Falls Church, VA for our 11:00AM bus departure. This convenient meeting point lets us travel together easily as a group, and parking is free on the weekends.
- Our first stop is Chrysalis Vineyards, a woman-founded and woman-owned vineyard and agricultural conservation zone. The Chrysalis team will guide us in a tasting of five of their award-winning wines, each paired with an artisan cheese from their creamery. Following our tasting we will enjoy a delicious and locally sourced lunch catered by The Polished Foxx, as well as some time to explore the property.
- We then head to Cana Vineyards for our second wine tasting. Cana is a woman-owned and award-winning winery in the rolling hills of Middleburg, and Cana’s winemaker was the first Virginia winemaker to be named Woman Winemaker of the Year at the Women’s International Wine Competition! The Cana team will select six wines for our in-depth guided tasting.
- We will say goodbye to Cana Vineyards and the Virginia countryside around 4:30pm, and return to [enter place] by about 5:30PM, sharing our laughter and stories of a great day together with our Duke friends, old and new.
