Today, modern Italian & Greek winemakers are the heirs of old world wisdom and its secrets of good wine. However it's not the technical aspects and mechanics of wine making that wins peoples hearts, but the reverence for wine making as an art. The pride poured into each Hopewell Valley Vineyards wine is palpable.
The Neris want to share this wine-drenched heritage with their authentic wines. For them, opening a bottle of Hopewell Valley Vineyards wine uncorks the past, present and future of fine wine. It’s the natural evolution, the next generation, the next permutation of excellent wine making tradition. Hopewell Valley Vineyards is a winery dedicated to the creation of handcrafted wines by blending Old World traditions with New World flair. Their mission is to provide a relaxing, quaint and beautiful environment where one can experience world class wines, enjoy the company of friends and create long lasting memories. They have merged three generations of traditional European wine making experience with the challenges and excitement of establishing a state of the art vineyard and winery in the heart of the New Jersey terroir. Their award winning wines coupled with their renowned Old World hospitality has made Hopewell Valley Vineyards not only a place to purchase excellent local wines, but a destination in itself.
The Hopewell Valley Vineyards lie at the base of the Sourland Mountains and in close proximity of the Delaware Valley with heavy soils of clay and shale agriculturally classified as clay loam. The total acreage of the vineyard is 75 acres with 20 acres dedicated to viticulture. A plan to develop additional 20 acres of vineyard is underway. Beside vinifera varieties such as Pinot, Chardonnay, and Barbera we grow Vidal Blanc, Chamboircin, and Traminette that are proven champions of the North Atlantic wine country. Research is also under way for other promising varieties developed by Cornell University and other grapevine breeders such as Noiret, Chardonel, Marquette and Baco Noir.
