Sarah Schroth, the Nancy Hanks Senior Curator at the Nasher Museum of Art, was knighted for her work on the recent exhibition of Spanish art, “El Greco to Velázquez: Art During the Reign of Philip III.” She received In presenting the award, Spain's consul general to the United States, Alvaro de Salas, noted that “The [exhibit] reassesses a magnificent period of Spanish art from Philip III's reign—a time of peace, optimism, and prosperity. Its narrative is groundbreaking. It has been a great success.” In addition to the knighthood, which comes with an ornate medal and insignia, Schroth was given the formal title Su Ilustrísma, or “the Illustrious One.” |
