Reunions Spring

Photos By Duke Photography

A blast for the past: Fireworks highlight the Big Dance, held in a tent the size of Wade Stadium's playing field

pril on campus: an array of tents popped up on both East and West Campus quads like tulips in the Duke Gardens to welcome more than 3,000 alumni and family members for a fresh concept --a spring reunion weekend. Replacing separate reunions in the fall, one grand gathering of graduates will be held each spring. Autumn will be reserved for the traditional Homecoming.

The classes of 1949, 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, and the Half Century Club celebrated at Friday class parties on the quads, a variety of campus events on Saturday, the Big Dance that evening, and a Sunday champagne breakfast in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. A University Photography team captured those memorable moments.
