Festival of the Book

Duke will play host to this year's North Carolina Festival of the Book, a series of lectures and discussions that will feature a lineup of best-selling and acclaimed authors, including Roy Blount Jr., Robert Olen Butler, Pat Conroy, Barbara Kingsolver, Elizabeth Spencer, and Tom Wolfe, along with many others who represent the changing face of the South. "In a departure from many book events, our programs will put writers together in conversation, where they will have the opportunity to share the stories behind their work and the relationships that influence their writing," says festival director Aaron Greenwald.

The biennial event, established in 1998, is a collaboration among the libraries of Duke, North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina Central University. This year's festival is scheduled for April 26-30. All events are free to the public.
