Seeing White: The Third Tale of Whiteness

Mohamed Chamas is a Duke junior from Beirut, Lebanon. An outspoken student activist, he speaks out, disagrees, and is sometimes seen as “crazy.” Though his ideas are oftentimes valid and convincing, he is usually interrupted before finishing his thoughts, and described as “another angry Muslim/Middle Eastern/minority student.” He spoke with producer/junior Ziqi Deng about his views on whiteness—with no interruptions. The piece was produced in the course, Introduction to Audio Documentary, taught by John Biewen at the Center for Documentary Studies.
