Trustee Renewal

Tom Clark '69, president of the Duke Alumni Association, will serve as a voting member of Duke's board of trustees from 2007 to 2009. As DAA president-elect, he has been a non-voting member since 2005.

Clark, who is in the first year of a two-year term as DAA president, serves on the boards of various arts organizations, public television, and legal-aid services. He retired last year as division president and managing director of U.S. Trust Company. At Duke, he was an A.B. Duke Scholar and a Navy Scholar.

In addition, three alumni have been nominated for re-election as trustees: Kenneth W. Hubbard '65, elected to the board in 2005 to complete an unexpired term, is eligible for a six-year term. Current trustees G. Richard Wagoner Jr. '75 and Lewis T. "Rusty" Williams Ph.D. '77, M.D. '78 will be serving second six-year terms.

Hubbard is an executive vice president of Hines, an international real-estate company. He is responsible for the acquisition, development, and management of commercial and mixed-use projects in the northeastern U.S.

Wagoner is chair and CEO of General Motors Corporation. He advanced through finance and management positions in GM's international divisions in Brazil, Canada, and Europe, and later was named president of GM North America.

Williams is executive chair and founder of Five Prime Therapeutics Inc. Earlier he was president of research and development and a director of Chiron Corporation. Recently awarded the American Heart Association's Basic Research Prize, he is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
