One of the big gaps between first-gen/low-income students and their non-FGLI peers is the access to connections that help them navigate the process for finding jobs and internships. You can help us narrow that gap by becoming a champion for students during their search.

When I entered Duke in 1981, I was the first person in my family to go to college. My father had graduated from high school, but my mother dropped out of the 10th grade. In our house, we never talked about a college degree or what it could mean, but through the encouragement of some great teachers and the guiding hand of a few close neighbors, I made it to Duke.

This month Duke Puget Sound sat down with Court Lorenzini, who graduated from Pratt in ‘87. Court was originally from the Bay Area but has been living in the Seattle area for 25 years.
