Congratulations -- you did it! On behalf of Duke First, a community of first-generation and low-income students-turned alums, we are celebrating this moment with you. After getting into Duke, choosing to make it your home, and navigating through your program here, you’re now becoming an alum.

On February 17, just under 200 First-Generation/Low-Income students, alumni, faculty, and staff came together for our 2nd Annual Duke First Resilience Dinner. It was an evening of good food, shared experiences, amazing connections, and exciting raffle prizes.

The Duke Asian Alumni Alliance (DAAA) affinity group hosted a networking event on the rooftop of the Duke in DC office at 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Attendees enjoyed celebrating their common connection with a beautiful view of our nation's capital!

We still live in times where the struggle for human rights continues. All individuals deserve to be protected against discrimination, human rights violations and basic indecency. All people regardless of background should be respected and their rights protected.

The Duke Asian Alumni Alliance (DAAA) denounces any type of racism and violence that impacts our community. We are alarmed by the increasing number of incidents against Asian and Asian-Americans, and we are even more concerned with the silence that seems to accompany them. Silence is complicity, which compels us to issue this statement.
