Start your 19-day journey in Beijing, savoring the capital’s legendary sites: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and the Great Wall. Ride rickshaws through the city’s hutongs (alleyways) and enjoy a home visit, giving a glimpse of the traditional communal lifestyle. Travel to Xian to see the army of 7,000 life-sized Terra Cotta Warriors. Fly to Tibet and spend three nights in Lhasa, high in the Himalayas, exploring sacred temples, the vast Potala Palace, and understanding the Tibetan lifestyle.  See the Dazu Rock Carvings then board a Victoria Cruises ship at Chongqing for a three-night cruise on the Yangtze with its famous gorges and dam.  The tour concludes in Shanghai, a dazzling city that epitomizes 21st-century China.  Discover the European-influenced Bund as well as the renowned Shanghai Museum with its priceless collections. Spend additional time exploring dynamic Shanghai on an optional 3-day/2-night “on your own” post-tour extension.
