Journey through antiquity and delve into a storied land’s many treasures.  Your 15-day immersion in Egypt’s inestimable historic atmosphere begins in Cairo and its environs with the acclaimed Egyptian Museum and Memphis’s open-air museum with its colossus of Ramses II.  Continue on to splendid Sakkara, burial site of royalty for 3,000 years, and the astounding Pyramids of Giza guarded by their enigmatic Great Sphinx.  Embark on a fascinating three-night Lake Nasser cruise through ancient Nubia, from Abu Simbel, with a sound-and-light show; to the exploration of Amada, Wadi el-Seboua, Kalabsha, and Philae’s astonishing temples; and, finally, touring massive Aswan High Dam, an engineering marvel.  A classic four-night Nile cruise takes you from Aswan to Luxor.  Along the way, embark on a leisurely felucca sail, visit the ancient trading town of Kom Ombo, and tour Edfu’s remarkably preserved Temple of Horus.  Sail on to Luxor, the world’s “greatest open-air museum,” where you explore both banks:  the haunting Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens, the dramatic Temple of Hatsheput, the massive Colossi of Memnon, and splendid Luxor and Karnak temples.  Fly to Cairo where your touring includes the exotic Khan el-Khalili bazaar and Old Cairo.  Discover fabled “rose-red” Petra, ancient Jerash, and the capital of Amman, with an optional 5-day/4-night post-tour Jordan extension.
