Blue Devils in Space

The Forever Learning Institute (FLI), in partnership with the Duke Space Initiative, invites the Duke alumni community to explore humanity’s next frontier through Blue Devils in Space, a program focused on research, innovation, and leadership. Across five sessions, participants will examine how Duke is shaping the future of space through interdisciplinary collaboration spanning scientific discovery, the search for life beyond Earth, ethics, policy, and commercialization.

Together, these conversations highlight Duke’s expanding role in the space ecosystem and why the university is uniquely positioned to lead. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of why space matters and how members of the Duke alumni community can engage in this next era of exploration.

Why the Humanities Matter

THE SENSE OF SOCIAL

The Forever Learning Institute (FLI), in partnership with Duke’s John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute (FHI), invites the Duke alumni community to explore Why the Humanities Matter. Building on last fall’s focus on “The Sense of Self,” this series turns to the “Sense of Social,” examining how the humanities shape shared lives and collective understanding.

Participants will explore topics including the mission and impact of the Franklin Humanities Institute, the evolution from old to new media, intersections of culture, climate, and community, and the reclamation of human rights narratives. Designed to foster dialogue across disciplines and cultural backgrounds, the series features panels of distinguished Duke faculty and promises to inspire, inform, and connect the alumni community.
