What does it take to be an interviewer?
Calling all Duke alumni passionate about helping to build the future of Duke! AAAC volunteers are Duke alums knowledgeable about undergraduate studies and student life at Duke, are willing to complete annual training and meet deadlines. They cannot work as a college admissions professional, as an independent college counselor or have a child applying to Duke in the current application season.

Volunteering is important to Duke. During the interview season, volunteers are asked to virtually interview and complete written evaluations for 3-5 applicants. This averages 2-4 hours of service per month from October to March.

What does an AAAC chairperson do?
Lead fellow AAAC volunteers. Chairpersons serve in year-round positions for a 3-year term. They work with alumni interviewers as team leaders to educate, communicate, organize volunteers and ensure a smooth admissions process for interviewers and applicants.

What do I need to start interviewing?
All you need is a computer or phone! Interviews are conducted virtually. We provide required training and resources to help you make the most of your interview.
Do I have to commit to interviewing every year?
No. Your time commitment is based on the current admissions season. While we hope you’ll come back every year to interview, we understand that you may not be able to do so.
