Who is allowed to use Coursera for Duke Alumni?
Alumni of Duke University (those who have participated in a degree-seeking program or specific educational programs through the university) are eligible for this FREE benefit. If you are uncertain whether you qualify, please contact Duke Alumni Relations at (919) 684-5114 or help@daa.duke.edu.
If you are a current student, faculty, or staff member you have access to Coursera for Duke which includes the same benefits.
Will I receive course credit from Duke University on my official college transcript by completing a Coursera for Duke Alumni course?
No. At this time, courses and specializations provided on Coursera are not credit bearing and will not provide college transcript credit. The certificate provided is through Coursera only.
How much does it cost to take a course or earn a course certificate on Coursera?
All of the Duke provided Coursera courses and specializations, with the corresponding certificate, are FREE for alumni when using the Coursera for Duke Alumni portal. This benefit only pertains to courses provided by Duke University of which there are over 60 to choose from.
How are Coursera for Duke Alumni classes formatted? Do I have to show up at a certain time?
All of the classes are pre-recorded so that you can watch content anywhere and at any time available to you.
When are courses available on Coursera for Duke Alumni?
Courses are available either as a session (specific start date) or on demand. Both formats provide suggested deadlines. In on demand courses, you can turn off or adjust deadlines if the suggested schedule does not work for you. This provides a flexible learning schedule to meet your needs.
