On behalf of ourselves and Duke Black Alumni, we watched in horror the events of May 25, when Minneapolis Police Officers callously murdered George Floyd. The Black community and indeed the American community is hurting. We are hurting from racism, neglect, and lack of leadership in Washington. It was only a year ago that little Hispanic children were separated from their parents and locked in cages and last month that Asian Americans have been targeted due to the Coronavirus. This month brought the police killings of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. We stand with all people of goodwill seeking positive change and an end to racism.
