Nika Duan is an investor at Emerson Collective, a social change organization founded by Laurene Powell Jobs that invests in mission-driven companies across all stages, including companies like Guild Education, Chime, SpaceX, and Axios. In mid-October, Nika, the Duke Association for Business Oriented Women (BOW), and the Duke Technology Scholars Program (DTech) co-hosted an online panel event on breaking into venture capital to help current Duke students to learn more about the industry. The panel included fellow Duke alums, Nika Duan, Austin Meacham, Christine Kenna, and Doreen Wong, with VC investing experience and insights on how to get a job in ventures, what roles and responsibilities entail, what skillsets are needed to be successful, and more.
